STEPS ON THE WAY

THE VISION BEGINS - CHRIS

From a young age, I knew I was called to the nations. I always assumed that my calling would lead me to a Spanish-speaking country. It made sense at the time; I had a connection to the language, the culture, and the people. But God had a different plan, one that only He could have foreseen. Little by little, He started revealing that my focus was meant to be the Middle East. At first, I did not fully understand why, but the Lord began speaking to me through dreams, showing me glimpses of bringing my family back to Israel. I knew that my mother’s side of the family was Jewish, but it wasn’t until I had that dream that I realized the Lord was calling me to be a forerunner - to step into something bigger than I had ever imagined. With this realization came a flood of questions: “Lord, how can I do this? I don’t even know the language or the culture. What exactly am I supposed to do there?” But God, in His patience and wisdom, continued to reveal His plan piece by piece.

One of the biggest confirmations of my calling came when I began to understand God’s heart for restoration and unity. Seeing the deep conflicts and divisions in Israel, I struggled to believe that I could play a role in bringing people together. But then the Lord spoke clearly to me: “I will make your forehead like flint.” (Ezekiel 3:9) He was preparing me to speak to people who might be resistant, hard-headed, or deeply divided. This was not a call for the fainthearted, but one that required boldness, perseverance, and unwavering faith.

Determined to follow His leading, I set my sights on Israel. In 2020, I finally had the opportunity to visit, and I invited my parents to come along. However, due to work obligations, I had to fly ahead of them. The timing of my arrival was nothing short of divine. As soon as I landed, COVID-19 broke out, and all flights were canceled. My parents were stuck in Rome, while I was left alone to explore the Land of Israel. At first, it seemed like an unfortunate turn of events, but it turned out to be one of the greatest blessings. With Israel free of tourists, I had time to immerse myself in the land, to pray, and to seek God’s heart for why He had called me there.

And as I was preparing to leave, God whispered to me: “It’s about the people, it’s the people, it’s the people.” In that moment, I knew—this calling was not just about the land itself, but about the lives, the souls, the hearts of those who call it home. The call was clear: to stand as a bridge, to be a part of God’s restoration, and to love the people He has placed on my heart. As the prophet Isaiah wrote: “You shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” (Isaiah 58:12) I didn’t have all the answers yet, but I knew one thing - God has called me to Israel, and I will follow wherever He leads!

Leaving Israel, I no longer had any doubt that I was called to return. I knew my journey was just beginning. In 2023, I went back, this time with my parents and my little brother. This trip took us to the Negev, a place rich with biblical history and prophetic significance. Just as Abraham stepped out in faith, not knowing where God was leading (Hebrews 11:8), so too was I - unknowingly - stepping into a promise greater than I could have imagined…

"By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in
reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household."

Hebrews 11:7
